SHE GAVE THIS NAME TO THE LORD WHO SPOKE TO HER: “YOU ARE THE GOD WHO SEES ME,” FOR SHE SAID, “I HAVE NOW SEEN THE ONE WHO SEES ME.”
// GENISIS 16:13
Something that I've only just recently learnt since being here in Mexico is how much God is truly committed to each of us. We see God as this mighty power who ignores the tiny details of our lives, but that perspective couldn't be more wrong, and its sad how many of us see him as that. God sees us. He knows our desires and needs more then we do, and is more committed to fulfil his will for our lives then we could ever be. God cares about every single detail of our lives, even the little things that we see as insignificant. Just like it says in Psalm 139, he is completely and whole heartedly dedicated to us and our lives.
"How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you."
God is committed to us, but we need to learn to be committed to him and discover who is. We need to learn to love who God is more then what he can do for us. I know this is a trap that a lot of christians fall into. They're so focused on the end product and the gifts that God can give them that they completely lose their awareness of God. They lose sight of him. Life is all about living now, rather then whats ahead of us. If we're constantly focused on the future then we miss being in a relationship with God, and thats the thing that he cares about most.
In my own life, I've been to focused on my purpose and Gods will for my life that I lost sight of his character. The truth is, I couldn't truly commit myself to his will for my life without knowing who he is. The Character of God needs to fill my heart. I now know that discovering who God is and having a relationship with him is my purpose for my life. Everything else is just a blessing from him. When we become aware of our need for God and learn to trust his character above our circumstances, our perspective becomes more like his. We are no longer weighed down by our own thoughts and the fear of man because he's changed the subject. We are no longer consumed by the hurt and the pain conflicted upon us, but we look to him, because
"There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus" //Romans 8:1.
For those who feel so overwhelmed by fear and pain that they feel a physical weight holding them down, you need to know that its okay to feel broken. God uses us in our weakness because this is when we need him the most. Our vulnerability leaves a space for God to come and heal our brokenness. You need to remember that Jesus didn't come to save the righteous, he came to save those who had experienced loss, abandonment and fear. God is the one who sees you.
